Home addresses of people that visited your website

What would you do if you knew the home addresses of people that visited your website?

To be clear right from the start, you wouldn’t know the name of the person from that address – just that someone at that home location had been to your website (and what they looked at page by page).

You may be attracted to the idea of knowing the addresses of people that visited their website BUT ...

What would you actually do with that information?

It’s worth thinking about that because, if you don’t have processes to follow up on identifiable home addresses of people that have been to your website, then there’s little point knowing who they were.

See the addresses of people that went to your website

Here’s an example of someone at a specific home address that visited a website and what they looked at page by page during their visit:

In this case, they were looking for a garden landscaping company and they looked at several pages of that website.  That meant that they were actively interested in the services being offered.

This video shows you how you can get daily alerts of people visiting your website from their home locations, and how to see what they looked at page by page:

Getting the business before your competitors have a chance to

Those people who have been to your website are highly likely to also have been to the websites of some of your competitors.

They may not have made contact with you or your competitors because of these reasons:

  1. They’re just researching options at this stage.
  2. They didn’t find enough on the websites to make them want to make contact.
  3. They’re just not ready to have dialogue yet.

Your competitors would be at a disadvantage if they aren’t identifying the addresses of those people visiting their websites.

You would definitely be at an advantage if you knew exactly which home addresses had someone who had been to your website.

Your website visitor is someone in an identifiable home, potentially still in the process of making a buying decision, possibly receptive to something that will help them choose the best solution for them.

If a professional brochure drops through their letterbox within a day or two of visiting your website, they’re going to be interested.

They’re also going to appreciate the opportunity (via your brochure) to discover more about your business (more than they’d noticed when they were hopping between the websites of you and your competitors).

Even better, the brochure may come with a covering letter that offers an incentive (e.g. a discount or free offer) for them if they make contact and quote that reference to you.

If you’ve had a website visitor ...

... it’s likely they’ve also been to the websites of some of your competitors ...

... and there’s a limited time before they will make a decision ...

... so your brochure posted through their door gives you a huge advantage over your competitors, who are unaware of which home address visited their website.

You can find out a lot more about effective brochures by looking at our guide what to send to homes that visited your website.

Test it out free for 30 days

Here’s what you need to initially get 30 days of free information about home addresses that have visited your website...

Complete the sign up form

Fill in your details on our sign up form here.

Tracking code installation

After you’ve signed up for your free trial we email you a piece of tracking code to get installed within your website.

This is easy to do (a two minute task for you or your web developer), and we send full instructions.

That tracking code is what makes it possible to identify the home addresses of people  visiting your website.

What you get each day

You will receive a daily email that shows you the identifiable home addresses of your website visitors from the previous day.

You also have access to a portal that shows you that same information and makes it easy to look up those home addresses on a map.

Not all visitors can be identified, but you will get 10-30% of them showing the locations where they were when they visited your website.

This video shows you more about what you get, and how to use that information:

Getting results from identifying home addresses of your website visitors

You won’t get results if you don’t act on the information.

By looking at the home addresses of your website visitors you will judge whether or not you want to send a brochure to each address.

For example, if you sell a high priced service and the visitor is from a small property unlikely to buy your service, then you wouldn’t send a brochure to that home.

All you need to do each day is to view the home addresses of your website visitors from the previous day, decide which you’d like to send brochures to, and then send them out.

We also recommend you keeping a note of which homes you send out to – that becomes useful when measuring return on time and investment.

Measurement of results

Not everyone will make contact after you send a brochure to their house – even if they are clearly interested in the services or products that you offer.

However, the return on investment will be strong because you’re not sending out to multiple properties that haven't shown any interest in buying what you offer.  Instead, you’re sending to individual properties where someone had definitely been to your website.

If your brochure and covering letter is good enough, then you will get people making contact – particularly if you give them an incentive to quote something back to you.

As an example, you offer a 10% discount if people quote reference BROC10, a reference that is totally unique to the process of identifying homes and sending brochures to those homes.

Each enquirer that quotes that reference back to you is a tick in the box for this method of proactive marketing working for you.

Having said all that, don’t worry too much about measurement – we’re here to help you focus on that during your free 30 days trial.

Calculating return on investment

Say you had 200 identified homes per month and you sent brochures to 100 of them.

That costs £60 for our service, plus the costs of the brochures and postage (say, roughly 100 x £2.50 - £250).

So, in total, roughly £310 to send out to 100 home addresses.

You would need to equate that spend to the incoming enquiries from those mailouts.

Ideally, you would have already done that within the free 30 day trial, but should still be doing it ongoing.

What you get each month

Here’s what’s included in your monthly fee:

  1. Daily email showing you home addresses of visitors to your website in the previous day.
  2. Access to the same portal you used for your free trial, enabling you to access the detail level of what each visitor looked at page by page on your website.
  3. Access to all the additional functionality within the system that’s designed to help you gain more business from your website and marketing overall (this is something we cover with you during your free trial).
  4. Human support from us to help you get the most from the software.
